Job summary

CONSUMER DIRECTED SERVICES INC. is seeking a PRN registered nurse for cross-trained PACU and pre-operative care in a hospital setting. You will perform pre-operative assessments and provide recovery care in a tight, patient-focused team.

Responsibilities include IV access, pain and nausea management, patient education on procedures and recovery, and close monitoring of airway, vital signs, and dressings. Shift options include 3P-11P or 11A-11P with weekly flexibility.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in the appropriate state.
• Prior experience in PACU, pre-op, ICU, or critical care required.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; a Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Ability to work at least one shift per week, including 3P-11P or 11A-11P shifts, with flexibility for other schedules.
• Refresher course completion and reinstatement may be necessary if license has been inactive for over five years.

This PRN nursing position involves providing care in a cross-trained capacity for post-anesthesia care (PACU) and pre-operative units, primarily in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, including medical history, allergies, medications, and baseline vitals.
• Initiate intravenous access, administer pre-operative medications, and manage post-operative symptoms such as pain and nausea.
• Educate patients about procedures, anesthesia, recovery, and post-operative care preparations.
• Monitor airway, respiratory, circulatory, neurological status, and pain levels during recovery.
• Perform ongoing assessments for anesthesia recovery and identify complications requiring intervention.
• Assess surgical sites, drains, dressings, and drainage for signs of issues.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs, responding to patient condition changes appropriately.

Qualifications & Skills
