Job summary

Apsurgery in the United States is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive peri-operative care, coordinate total patient care with the surgical team, and advocate for patients. You will support patient safety, perform instrument and medication duties, and participate in orientation and team meetings.

The role requires strong clinical skills, CPR/ACLS, and the ability to work in a dynamic peri-operative environment. Commitment to HIPAA and OSHA guidelines is essential.

Qualifications

• Indiana nursing license is required.
• CPR certification or ACLS; PALS within one year of hire.
• Two years nursing experience, ambulatory setting preferred.
• Must successfully complete medication administration exam.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and peri-operative equipment.
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Requires lifting and transporting patients and equipment up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work under stressful peri-operative environments.
• Excellent hearing and near visual acuity to distinguish supplies and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Assess physiological health status of the patient.
• Assess psychological health status of patient/family.
• Set realistic goals and develop a plan of care based on nursing actions.
• Transfer patient per plan of care.
• Provide equipment and supplies based on patient needs.
• Perform counts of sponge, sharps, and instruments.
• Administer drugs and solutions as prescribed.
• Monitor patient physiologically during peri-operative phase.
• Monitor environment and ensure safety.
• Respect patient rights and demonstrate accountability.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and effectiveness of nursing care.
• Serve as a resource to staff and participate in orientation and training.

Job description

Utilizes the nursing process to provide comprehensive nursing care. Coordinates total patient care in coordination with other health team members, particularly the Center's team. Functions as a patient advocate utilizing the Patient's Bill of Rights. Demonstrates professional growth and development by accepting responsibility and accountability for one's nursing practice.

HIPAA Compliance:

1. RN/LPN will have full access to medical records.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Current Indiana license.

1. Current CPR certification or certification obtained by completion of orientation. ACLS

certification required within one year of hire. PALS certification required for all PACU and

Phase II RN's within one year of hire.

1. Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience, preferably in an ambulatory setting.

1. Required to successfully complete medication administration exam provided.

1. Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills.

1. Prior knowledge of surgical instrumentation and peri-operative equipment or ability to learn same.

1. Requires prolonged periods of standing and walking.

1. Requires ability to perform lifting and transport of patients; and lifting of instrument trays and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

1. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and to organize work in order of importance.

1. Ability to work effectively in stressful situations and in a variety of peri-operative environments.

1. Requires manual dexterity to operate equipment and handle instrumentation, hearing to understand verbal instructions and near vision to distinguish supplies and instrumentation.

Working Conditions:

1. Accountability to Executive Director, Clinical Director, and/or Peri-Operative Manager/Charge Nurse.

1. Normal peri-operative environment with exposure to chemical odors, cleaning solvents and other hazardous materials. Must follow established procedures to ensure safety.

1. Exposure to possible injury when working with electrical equipment and lasers, which require care and following proper safety procedures.
