USPI St Joesphs Outpatient Surgery Center is a fast-paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.

Job Summary

Plans, coordinates, and oversees care for patients of any age in Preop and PACU departments. Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center. Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to other team members. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the manager, including serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits, and projects.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
  • Follows policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for perioperative nursing care according to accepted standards.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates pre and post-operative nursing care based on individual patient needs and physician’s orders.
  • Organizes and maintains medical records, documents care appropriately and timely, and follows up on missing data and patient care needs.
  • Maintains current skills in intravenous therapy, medication administration, patient assessment, airway maintenance, patient teaching, and emotional/social support.
  • Remains calm and functions effectively during stress and crisis situations.
  • Engages in activities promoting professional growth and participates in committee and CQI activities.
  • Follows OSHA standards for blood borne pathogens and uses good body mechanics.
  • Informs Preop / PACU Manager of day-to-day situations and follows personnel policies.
  • Supports specialties including Orthopedics, ENT, General, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Urology, Spine.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Unrestricted RN license in the state
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • 1-3 years' experience in PreOP/PACU
  • Preferred experience in ambulatory surgical centers
  • Current BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient management
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient conditions
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
