Job summary

Brandon Surgery Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Perioperative Nurse (PRN) to deliver preoperative and postoperative care until discharge. You will support the surgical team with a focus on safety, efficiency, and patient comfort.

The role requires an Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma, 1+ year PACU/ICU/Surgery experience, and active RN license, plus BCLS, ACLS within 30 days. Benefits include comprehensive plans and wellness support.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably in PACU, ICU or Surgery.
• Active RN license as required by state of employment.
• BCLS Certification required; online certification not acceptable.
• ACLS required within 30 days of hire.
• PALS if required by facility within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient care area before case.
• Ensure availability of equipment and supplies for the procedure.
• Conduct complete physical and history/diagnostic assessment.
• Administer pre-operative medications and IV therapy as prescribed.
• Insert, maintain, and remove IV catheters and saline locks as appropriate.
• Check dressings and operative site; report abnormalities.
• Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.

Join our team as a Perioperative Nurse in our ambulatory surgery center. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care rendered preoperatively and postoperatively until your patients are discharged. What you will do in this role:

• Prepare your patients’ care area adequately before case
• Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies for your patients’ procedure
• Conduct complete physical, and psychological assessment and evaluation of your patients’ history and diagnostic tests
• Administer pre-operative medications and intravenous therapy as prescribed
• You will exhibit proper technique for insertion, maintenance, and removal of IV catheters and saline locks
• Check dressings and/or operative site of your patients and report abnormalities to the surgeon
• Ensure your patients meet discharge criteria

Qualifications you will need:

• Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or Higher degree in Nursing Required
• 1+ years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably in PACU, ICU or Surgery
