POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Surgical Technologist. In this role, the successful candidate under the direction of a licensed professional nurse can scrub on all surgical procedures in the Operating Room, and assist the physician in procedural areas.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participates in quality improvement programs and activities that promote patient, family, physician and staff satisfaction.
  2. Participates in clinical activities to foster evidence based practice.
  3. Maintains awareness of current research applicable to patient care.
  4. Participates in unit based quality and performance improvement programs.
  5. Utilizes resources to meet individual learning needs.
  6. Serves as a support and resource for other staff and students.
  7. Engages in self-assessment and participates in activities to promote own professional growth and development.
  8. Acquires and maintains current knowledge and competence to fulfill responsibilities.
  9. Participates in designated activities related to professional nursing standards and regulations of relevant outside agencies.
  10. Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team and promotes collegial relationships.
  11. Participates in coordination of unit activities to provide care in a healing, humane and caring environment.
  12. Supports the mission, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of the institution, department, and service line.
  13. Cultural Competencies - Recognizes that all patients may not share the values and practices of the US health system.
  14. Considers needs and behaviors of specific patient age and cultural groups in all patient care activities.
  15. Evaluates the patient's progress toward attainment of expected outcomes.
  16. Implements interventions identified in the plan of care.
  17. Provides RN Circulator/Surgical Team updating of information that reflects the ability to prioritize and organize care.
  18. Participates in the plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  19. CLINICAL: Supports the Surgical Team in the achievement of expected outcomes individualized to the patient.
  20. CLINICAL: Communicates assessment data to nursing/surgical team.
  21. CLINICAL: Collects patient healthcare data systematically and on an ongoing basis using appropriate assessment techniques and instruments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Graduate of approved accredited school/Program of Surgical Technology.

REQUIRED LICENSES: Cert Surgical Technologist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: One year experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist in a large complex Operating Room, preferred.
