Job summary

Blue River Surgery Center, part of the Surgery Ventures Group powered by HCA Healthcare, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for our PACU team in Kansas City.

You will perform preoperative assessments, administer medications, manage IV therapy, monitor patient recovery, and ensure discharge criteria are met with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• RN license required by state of employment.
• 1+ years nursing experience in PACU/ICU or Surgery preferred.
• BCLS certification required upon employment; online not acceptable.
• ACLS required within 30 days of hire; PALS if facility requires within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient care area prior to procedures.
• Ensure equipment and supplies are available for procedures.
• Conduct comprehensive physical and psychological assessments.
• Administer pre-operative medications and IV therapy.
• Insert, maintain, and remove IV catheters and saline locks.
• Check dressings and operative sites and report abnormalities.
• Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.

What you will do in this role:

• Prepare your patients’ care area adequately before case
• Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies for your patients’ procedure
• Conduct complete physical, and psychological assessment and evaluation of your patients’ history and diagnostic tests
• Administer pre-operative medications and intravenous therapy as prescribed
• You will exhibit proper technique for insertion, maintenance, and removal of IV catheters and saline locks
• Check dressings and/or operative site of your patients and report abnormalities to the surgeon
• Ensure your patients meet discharge criteria

Qualifications you will need:

• Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or Higher degree in Nursing Required
• 1+ years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably in PACU, ICU or Surgery
• Active RN license as required by state of employment
• BCLS Certification upon employment. ***online certification not acceptable
• ACLS required within 30-days of hire
• PALS if required by facility within 30-days of hire

Blue River Surgery Center is the newest member of the Surgery Ventures Group powered by HCA Healthcare opening in early 2024. This state-of-the-art facility will include five operating rooms and two specialty procedures rooms. The center will be staffed by a skilled team of registered nurses and OR techs. Our specialties will include orthopedics, GI, podiatry, general and vascular surgery. The Center is located in South Kansas City near I-435 and Holmes.
