Levy Restaurants at Crypto.com Arena in Downtown LA is seeking a Sous Chef for our Premium Culinary Department. You will lead high-end food production for VIP clubs and luxury suites, overseeing menu execution, quality, and guest experience.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of culinary experience, including leadership roles, with a passion for from-scratch, Chef-driven cuisine and exceptional teamwork in a high-pressure environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years culinary experience with at least 1 year in a management role.
• Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
• Experience in upscale venues and diverse services.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Levy Restaurants at Crypto.com Arena in Downtown LA is seeking our next culinary star. Crypto.com Arena is a premiere, world famous 19,000 seat sports and entertainment venue in the heart of downtown L.A. We are home to the Los Angeles Lakers, LA Kings and LA Sparks. We host and cater the Grammy Awards every year, numerous arena concert tours and special events like WWE, PBR Rodeo, Disney on Ice and more. Our Chefs provide all of the foodservice in the Arena, from our great casual foods on the concourses, to sushi, lobster, Wagyu and caviar for our premium guests in our luxury suites and catered events. We feed not only all of the fans in the arena, but also the teams and their owners, their VIP guests, artists and backstage. We’re hiring a Sous Chef in our Premium Culinary Department for our highest level VIP clubs and luxury suites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists in coordinating and participating in the preparation and cooking of various food items.


• Assists with planning and creating menus.


• Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary team.


• Assists with managing cost controls and controlling expenditure.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Our ideal candidate has the following experience and qualifications:

• 5 years of related culinary experience including 1 year at the management level.


• Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.


• Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.


• Knowledge of food and industry trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.


• Ability to set up and distribute production sheets.


• Supervisory, leadership, training, management, and coaching skills.


• ServSafe or Department of Health Certification is preferred.


• Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products including Excel.


• A background in upscale hotels, banquets and catering, or in larger restaurants serving upscale Chef-driven, from scratch cuisine


• An experienced palate, with the ability to build great flavors


• A strong creative streak, and your finger on the pulse of what the best, most creative restaurants in the city and around the world are doing


• The ability to write, produce and execute great menus


• A hands‑on work ethic


• Cool under pressure, a friendly team player and comfortable with meeting the demands of an upscale and celebrity clientele


• The ability to meet deadlines and work within time constraints


• The ability to work well and comfortably with a diverse team and work force


• Comfortable standing & walking for long periods of time, working in refrigerated areas, and lifting up to 50 lbs
