Job summary

New Mexico Mutual is seeking a dedicated Premium Auditor to conduct workers' compensation audits both remotely and at insured locations or partner accounting firms. You will review operations, classifications, and exposure to ensure accurate premium billing while supporting internal departments with NCCI rule guidance.

The role requires strong mathematical, analytical, and communication skills, travel readiness, and the ability to work independently within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of workers compensation or premium audit experience; 2+ years preferred.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in audit work papers and reports.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret NCCI rules and classifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain audit findings clearly.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities; prioritize audits by age, size and type.
• Must be able to travel; valid driver's license and vehicle for field work.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and conduct audits of policies remotely and at insured locations.
• Review operations, exposures, classifications, and NCCI rules.
• Prepare audit reports and summaries with supporting documentation.
• Verify billing accuracy against policy provisions and audit reports.
• Resolve disputed audit inquiries with policyholders and agents.
• Archive audit documents in Nexus OnBase or Nexus Audit Systems.
• Work independently and seek guidance for unusual issues.
• Provide superior customer service to insureds, agents, underwriters, and other teams.
