Summary:

Performs audits on commercial lines Workers Compensation and General Liability policies, verifying classifications, exposures, and premium calculations to determine earned premiums.

This involves reviewing policyholder financial records, including federal and state quarterly tax returns, payroll records, financial statements, general ledgers, and related reports.

Consults with policyholders about business practices and operations, explaining audit processes.

Essential Functions:
  • Meet with insureds at their business locations, via Teams, or by phone to audit exposures accurately.
  • Review financial records to complete audits.
  • Determine correct exposures and classifications using industry guidelines.
  • Inspect and investigate business aspects to develop earned premiums.
  • Prepare and submit detailed audit reports.
  • Describe insured’s operations to assist underwriters and in fraud discussions.
  • Resolve audit disputes through review and research, including mail or telephone audits.
  • Enter audit findings and schedule future audits, planning travel routes for in-person audits.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong math, bookkeeping, and accounting skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related platforms.
  • Knowledge of property and casualty insurance regulations and classifications preferred.
  • Ability to analyze, research, and resolve audit issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Travel required; valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle report needed.

The salary range varies by location, typically $27.00-$37.00 or $30.00-$41.00 per hour, depending on factors like education, skills, experience, and business needs.
