Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan seeks a Premium Audit Technician to evaluate, approve, complete, and process mail audits while providing direct customer service by phone, fax, and e-mail to internal and external customers including consultants, service centers, and policyholders.

The role requires education in accounting/finance, 2 years of relevant audit/payroll experience, and strong communication and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a multi-state auditing environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 30 credit hours in Accounting, Business, Insurance, Finance or related field.
• Progress toward or completion of IIA or other insurance designation (APA/CPCU) preferred.
• Two years’ technical/administrative office experience including audit/payroll duties in insurance.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Basic computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, 40 wpm and 10-key.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Maintains confidentiality of information.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, research, approve, complete and process mail audits.
• Handle audit adjustments (waive, mail, phone) and notify involved parties when denied.
• Contact insured, accountant, or agent to gather information for correct classifications.
• Research PAAS, NCCI and other tools to ensure proper classifications.
• Communicate concession requests and final decisions to external customers.
• Address policy changes and omissions identified during audit findings.
• Manage workflow inventory to meet service goals in PAM.
• Estimate audits.
• Train and mentor Premium Audit Technician.
• Prepare written correspondence.
• Maintain confidentiality; work with minimal supervision.
