Job summary

Montana State Fund (MSF) is seeking an experienced Premium Auditor to blend technical auditing with high-level relationship management. You will audit diverse Montana businesses, educate policyholders on payroll and wage reporting, and serve as a subject-matter expert for internal staff and external stakeholders.

You will lead training sessions approved for continuing education credits and represent MSF at board and county events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and one year of premium audit experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Montana driver’s license; ability to travel statewide.

Responsibilities

• Advanced Premium Auditing: conduct moderately complex audits for diverse Montana businesses, applying knowledge of exposures, endorsements, and NCCI codes.
• Educate policyholders on payroll reporting requirements and workers’ compensation laws to build trust and retention.
• Deliver training sessions and represent MSF at meetings and events.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure audit findings reflect current and future policy periods.
• Schedule and complete audits, review records, interview owners, observe worksites, and document work files.
