Job summary

Kinsale Insurance in Richmond, VA is seeking a Premium Accounting Assistant to support accounts receivable premium balances for its Aspera Insurance Services subsidiary. You will work closely with finance and underwriting to ensure accurate, timely processing of premium transactions onsite.

The role emphasizes following up past-due balances, reviewing statements, issuing NOCs, invoicing audits, and reconciling deposits with premium allocations.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Bachelor's preferred.
  • Two to five years of accounts receivable experience.
  • Two to five years of related insurance experience preferred.
  • High accuracy and efficiency in data entry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up on past-due Aspera balances with agency accounting contacts.
  • Review system-generated Aspera statements before sending to agents.
  • Release Notices of Cancellation (NOCs) and review related payments for rescission as appropriate.
  • Invoice and follow up on Aspera audit and other premium balances returned for direct collection.
  • Apply Aspera and Kinsale cash receipts, and serve as backup for cash application.
  • Communicate Aspera audit installment requests and prepare return premium check requests for approval.
  • Reconcile differences between Aspera deposited transactions and premium/deductible allocations to support accurate ledger entries.
  • Maintain scanned and electronic filing of cash receipts and verify claims expense and loss payment checks.

About the Role

As a Premium Accounting Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting accounts receivable premium balances for our wholly owned subsidiary, Aspera Insurance Services, Inc. What You Bring

Salary Range

$55,000 - $70,000

This posted range is our best estimate; starting salary will be based on experience level. Additionally, the posted range reflects only base salary and does not include annual bonuses, benefits, or reimbursements.
