Premises Liability Associate | Fully Remote, California | $150,000 to $210,000
A gate at the back of an apartment building stopped latching in March. Tenants told the on site manager, the manager emailed the management company, the management company sent a contractor who swapped the closer and billed for it, and in May a stranger walked through that gate at two in the morning and a resident got hurt. By the time the file reaches you there are four defendants, three contracts and a security vendor, and every one of them has a piece of paper showing the gate was somebody else's job.
You'd be the lawyer who works out who controlled that gate. This seat is premises work with an argument in it, habitability, negligent security, injuries on construction sites, files where you get experts and the depositions decide something. It's a long way from a few hundred identical slip and falls that all settle for the same figure.
The firm has done well hiring from smaller and regional defense shops, lawyers who've been doing this work for a while and want a bigger outfit behind them, and they push to get associates into trial as often as they can. Fully remote anywhere in California, $150,000 to $210,000, and anything from two to eight years of experience works as long as you hold the California Bar.
