Job summary

Mid-Michigan Area Public Schools Consortium seeks a substitute teacher to support Kearsley District assignments. The role requires following established lesson plans, maintaining classroom routines, and reporting progress daily.

Candidates should have 60 college credits or higher and Michigan teaching certification or substitute permits. A 7-hour workday, five days weekly, and a successful Live Scan background check are required.

Qualifications

• Must be available to work a 7 hour work day, five days a week.
• Prior substitute teaching experience preferred.
• Must successfully complete a Live Scan Criminal Records Check.

Responsibilities

• Implement curriculum and follow lesson plans prepared by the classroom teacher.
• Adhere to district procedures and support established lesson goals.
• Assign and clearly explain homework.
• Take accurate daily attendance.
• Report illnesses, injuries, and disciplinary concerns promptly.
• Provide a daily summary for the classroom teacher.
• Maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
• Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality.

Direct Hire Kearsley Employees are part of the Michigan Public Schools Employees Retirement System!

The premier substitute teacher reports daily to their assigned building. If there is no assignment at the assigned building, you may be required to substitute in a different building within the Kearsley School District.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 60 college credits, Associate Degree or higher
• Prior substitute teaching experience preferred
• One of the following valid permits/certifications:
  • Daily Sub Permit
  • Full-Year Basic Substitute Permit
  • Expert Substitute Permit or
  • Full-Year Shortage Permit or
  • Michigan Teaching certification
• Must be available to work a 7 hour work day, five days a week
• Must successfully complete a Live Scan Criminal Records Check
