Position Summary

The Special Education Pre-Kindergarten Teacher (SpEd PreK) at Graves Elementary School in Norcross, GA provides specialized, developmentally appropriate instruction for young learners with identified disabilities. This role focuses on building foundational communication, social-emotional, adaptive, and early academic skills through structured routines, play-based learning, and individualized supports. The teacher creates a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that fosters curiosity, independence, and school readiness while collaborating closely with families, related service providers, and school staff to ensure each child’s growth and success.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver individualized instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals and the GCPS Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum.
  • Adapt lessons, materials, and environments to meet each learner’s unique needs.
  • Implement behavioral and instructional strategies that encourage participation, communication, and self-regulation.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure coordinated support.
  • Monitor and document student progress through observation and data collection.
  • Communicate regularly with families and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Support students’ physical and personal care needs, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and contribute to school initiatives.
License and Certification

Must meet or be willing to meet Georgia certification requirements in Special Education.

Education

Bachelor’s degree from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) approved college or university required.

Experience

Previous teaching or work-related experience preferred.
