Norwich Public Schools is seeking a part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to provide behavior analytic services for special education students. The RBT will work under supervision, assist with training, and implement behavior plans aligned with educational objectives. TEMPORARY/PART-TIME POSITION:

DATES: 6/16/25 through 8/22/2025

HOURS: 8am to 12:30pm Monday through Friday

NON-WORK DAYS: 6/19, 7/4, 7/28 - 8/8

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Active RBT certification in good standing with BACB

  • Ability to work collaboratively with non-behavior analytic providers and team members

Job Goal: The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct behavior analytic services for special education students enrolled in educational programs under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA); assists with training regarding behavior intervention techniques for paraprofessionals and parents/guardians; and implements plans that conform to IDEA, Connecticut law and regulations, as well as other applicable statutes and regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct behavior analytic services for students identified by Director of Special Education & Pupil Services, BCBA, and building principals
  • Follow prescribed behavior intervention plans and skill acquisition programs
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on targeted student behavior
  • Conduct preference assessments and assist with functional assessment procedures
  • Effectively use contingencies of reinforcement to develop, establish, and maintain desired alternative behaviors
  • Assist with training on student’s individualized behavior intervention programs
  • Conduct treatment integrity checks on established behavior intervention plans
  • Effectively communicate with other school staff regarding student’s plans and progress
  • Collaborate with educational team including parents, paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, and other certified staff
  • Maintain and acquire applied behavior analytic technical knowledge and skills by attending trainings
  • Maintain student confidentiality and assist in maintaining student dignity
  • Adhere to RBT ethics requirements
  • Adhere to RBT supervision requirements
  • Respond appropriately to feedback and maintain or improve performance according to feedback
  • Maintain professional boundaries with all school staff and families
  • Carry out other responsibilities as designated by the Director of Special Education & Pupil Services and BCBA

  • Performing the job duties of this position requires the following physical demands: reaching, some lifting, standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and/or crawling.
  • Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment
  • Must be able to assist in the lifting/carrying of students in excess of 50 pounds
  • Occasional exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather
