Job description

A well-established progressive Early Childhood and Elementary School based in Queens is seeking an innovative, creative, and knowledgeable Pre-K for ALL (4-year-olds) Lead Teacher. The ideal candidates will have experience teaching in early childhood settings, knowledge of the Reggio Emilia Approach or a commitment to learning. S/he will be a positive school community member and will enjoy working collaboratively with a team and building positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Development & Implementation: Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate, and stimulating learning experiences for 4-year-olds, drawing upon progressive educational methodologies, such as the Reggio Emilia Approach, or a willingness to learn and adopt these methods.
• Classroom Management: Foster a warm and inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and social-emotional growth.
• Child Assessment: Regularly assess and document students’ growth and development, using formative and summative assessment tools. Adjust teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
• Parent Communication: Maintain open, consistent communication with parents and guardians through meetings, progress reports, and newsletters to ensure a strong school-home connection.
• Collaboration: Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to meet the needs of all students, promoting teamwork and a collaborative spirit.
• Professional Development: Stay current with early childhood education practices by participating in training sessions, workshops, and ongoing learning opportunities.
• Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with Pre-K for All program requirements, health and safety standards, and school policies.

Requirements:

• NYS ECE Certification
• B.A. or M.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education
• Minimum 1 year of classroom experience (preferred)
• Have a constructivist approach to education.
