Job summary

San Leon Elementary in Dickinson ISD is seeking a PreK Instructional Paraprofessional to support classroom activities under a certified teacher. The role involves assisting with instructional materials, testing, records, and daily student supervision throughout the school day.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED and a valid Texas educational aide certificate, plus 30 college hours, an associate degree, or an equivalent demonstrated by state/local assessment.

Qualifications

• Must have completed at least 30 college hours; or obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality, demonstrated through a formal State or local academic assessment
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, work with individual students or small groups
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside, and outside the classroom
• Keep the teacher informed of the special needs of students
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events
• Other duties as assigned
