Job summary

The position is non-benefited with a 190-day calendar and daily hours from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with a pay rate of $17.13 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Title One schools may require 48 college credits or AA degree.
• Clear written and oral communication.
• Willingness to participate in training.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Works with individuals and/or small groups under supervision of a classroom teacher or building administrator.
• Checks papers and monitors student progress.
• Operates office machines (typing may be required).
• Prepares and arranges materials for the day’s instruction.
• Assists in supervising recreational, outdoor, and free-time activities, as well as field trips.
• Performs classroom duties such as reading, collecting money, taking attendance, correcting assignments, and scheduling parent-teacher conferences.
• Monitors groups to free the teacher for other duties.
• Uses computer programs to assist students in small groups or individually.
• Substitutes for teachers in emergency situations.
• Maintains effective time management and productive work pace.
