Job summary

RSU 40/MSAD 40 SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a dedicated Pre-K to grade 1 Endeavor Teacher to support young learners with intensive behavioral and developmental needs. The role focuses on early communication, regulation, school readiness, and structured teaching within a district continuum of services.

The teacher will coordinate SDI, develop IEPs, collaborate with OT/SLP and other specialists, and partner with families to ensure consistency between home and school environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required; Master’s preferred.
• Valid Maine teacher certification in appropriate content area.
• Experience with early childhood or elementary students and special education law knowledge.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners and collaborate with specialists.

Responsibilities

• Provide specially designed instruction (SDI) focused on early learning, communication, behavior, and functional skills.
• Create a structured, predictable classroom environment that supports regulation and engagement.
• Implement individualized behavior support plans and proactive strategies.
• Teach foundational school skills (routines, transitions, social interaction, play skills).
• Serve as case manager and develop/implement IEPs.
• Collaborate with related service providers (OT, SLP, social work, BCBA) and ed techs.
• Partner with families to support consistency between home and school.
