Job summary

Mount Rogers Community Services Board seeks a Peer Recovery Specialist for Project LINK-SUD to provide outreach, skills training, and peer recovery supports to pregnant and parenting women with substance use concerns and their children. Qualifications

  • A valid Virginia Driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Either a college degree or high school diploma. Preferred applicants will have passed the Peer Certification Exam and/or are currently Certified Peer Recovery Specialists.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work towards becoming a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
  • Background check and fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of children and parents engaged in Project LINK who require outreach, skills training, and supports to function independently in the community and maintain recovery.
  • Provide rapid response to urgent referrals related to Project LINK and home visiting services for families; may require hours outside normal business.
  • Develop and document individualized services plans promoting recovery goals; coordinate with case managers, therapists, and other providers; maintain records to meet regulatory standards.
  • Assist individuals to locate, develop, or obtain needed services, resources, and public benefits.
  • Monitor health status, medications, and access to primary care and medical services for clients.
  • Provide transportation to appointments, daycare, groceries, and educate families to be more independent in transportation needs.
  • Collaborate with agency staff and participate in team meetings and supervision; keep certifications up-to-date.
