Job summary

Mount Rogers Community Services Board seeks a Peer Recovery Specialist for Project LINK-SUD to provide outreach, skills training, and peer recovery supports to pregnant and parenting women with substance use concerns and their children. The role emphasizes independence through linkages to treatment, prenatal care, support groups, and community resources.

Qualifications

• A valid Virginia Driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Either a college degree or high school diploma. Preferred applicants will have passed the Peer Certification Exam and/or are currently Certified Peer Recovery Specialists.
• Applicants must be eligible to work towards becoming a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
• Background check and fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of children and parents engaged in Project LINK who require outreach, skills training, and supports to function independently in the community and maintain recovery.
• Provide rapid response to urgent referrals related to Project LINK and home visiting services for families; may require hours outside normal business.
• Develop and document individualized services plans promoting recovery goals; coordinate with case managers, therapists, and other providers; maintain records to meet regulatory standards.
• Assist individuals to locate, develop, or obtain needed services, resources, and public benefits.
• Monitor health status, medications, and access to primary care and medical services for clients.
• Provide transportation to appointments, daycare, groceries, and educate families to be more independent in transportation needs.
• Collaborate with agency staff and participate in team meetings and supervision; keep certifications up-to-date.
