Loula is building a nationwide network of birth and postpartum doulas in California, partnering with Medicaid and commercial plans to simplify billing and credentialing.

We seek experienced birth doulas to join our independent contractor network in California, with no client minimums, direct deposits twice a month, and free credentialing. Rates can reach up to $134 per hour depending on payer.

Qualifications

• Completion of birth doula training (16 hours) and/or 5 years of doula experience with recommendations.
• CPR and HIPAA training completed; liability insurance in place.
• Ability to operate as an independent contractor in California.

Loula is seeking experienced birth doulas to join our growing network of independent doula providers!

About Loula

With a network of over 500 experienced and diverse doulas, Loula is building the leading provider network for birth and postpartum doula care. We partner with both Medicaid and commercial health insurance plans to make it easier for doulas to accept health insurance without the administrative burden.

Loula offers full-service support for Medicaid enrollment, credentialing, insurance verification, medical billing, and payment to doulas in California. By taking on the operational complexity, Loula empowers doulas to focus on what matters most: delivering exceptional care.

We believe every birthing person deserves access to high-quality doula support, not just those who can afford to pay out of pocket. Our mission is to help doulas build thriving practices while making it possible for insured families to access the care they deserve.

Minimum Qualifications

You’ll need one of the following:

• Completed 16 hours of birth doula training AND attended 3 births as a doula, OR
• 5 years of experience as a doula, with 3 letters of recommendation

You’ll also need:

• Adult and infant CPR training
• HIPAA training
• Liability insurance

If you don't yet have CPR training, HIPAA training, liability insurance, or the letters of recommendation, you can still reach out! We can support you in getting set up with these requirements.
