Role Overview

The Preferred Banker is responsible for developing, defining, and executing the First Financial Bank strategy while working with key partners across the Bank as the primary relationship lead, especially within the Wealth and Investment Division (i.e. Yellow Cardinal). Preferred Bankers drive the success of the stated goals and objectives of the Consumer Bank strategy by proactively engaging and pursuing activities that provide holistic financial solutions for clients within the affluent segment that lead to long-term relationships. They oversee attracting, retaining, and growing client relationships through personalized plans and fostering trusted advisor relationships with First Financial Bank’s products and services.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  1. Manage client relationships as the first point of contact, acting as their advocate, identifying needs, developing personalized plans, and making recommendations.
  2. Build trust through timely communication, document progress, and execute plans efficiently.
  3. Develop strong relationships with key partners, focusing on deepening client relationships and sharing opportunities.
  4. Leverage internal and external contacts to generate new client opportunities.
  5. Engage with the community through participation in local groups and events.
  6. Maintain proficiency in banking products and comprehensive financial solutions.
  7. Implement calling strategies to follow up on leads and establish new client connections.
  8. Participate in marketing and sales promotions aligned with strategic priorities.
  9. Ensure compliance with all bank, loan, and regulatory guidelines and policies.
  10. Serve as a resource for local bankers and partners, providing coaching and knowledge sharing.
  11. Develop and maintain a client book, acting as the primary advocate and advisor for clients.
  12. Collaborate with Business Specialists and Commercial Officers to develop opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
  13. Lead by example and work proactively with peers to improve engagement and uncover opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5-8 years experience in banking or financial services working with clients.
  • 5-8 years sales and service experience with a track record of achieving goals.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of banking products, services, and credit solutions.
  • Familiarity with financial planning, investment products, and wealth solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently and in teams.
Preferred Skills
  • FPQP certification or higher; pursuing advanced financial designations (CFP, CWS, ChFC, etc.).
Additional Information

This role handles routine and moderately complex issues, with escalation to upper management for highly complex cases. Employees work with moderate supervision and have some decision-making autonomy outside normal guidelines. No direct supervisory responsibilities, but mentoring may be involved.

Physical requirements include occasional lifting up to 20 lbs., frequent lifting up to 10 lbs., and the ability to sit, stand, drive, and navigate an office environment.
