Job summary

Tuff Shed, Inc. is seeking a Shop Specialist to lead training for prefab team members and ensure work is completed to quality, safety, and productivity standards. The role provides direction for new hires and supports Foreman with safety and efficiency on the shop floor.

The position emphasizes hands-on training, certification oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to maintain smooth production and timely completion of builds at the Franklin Park facility.

Qualifications

• Certified on prefab stations and able to maintain certification
• Willingness and ability to train and develop others
• Work safely and protect teammates in an industrial setting
• Knowledge of construction practices and terminology
• Able to use standard construction hand tools and power tools safely
• Able to read or learn to read cut sheets, product drawings, plans and truss drawings
• Understanding of work optimization concepts and techniques
• Strong attention to detail in all tasks
• Extremely high standards of quality workmanship
• Ability to communicate clear expectations to others
• Ability to read, write and understand oral/written/diagram instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, managers, partners, suppliers, customers, and public

Responsibilities

• Assist Production Foreman in maintaining a safe, clean, organized work environment
• Administer forklift certification training and tests
• Mentor and train trainees during certification process
• Verify building components are properly prepared
• Ensure production lines are stocked and organized
• Ensure jobs meet Tuff Shed quality and accuracy standards
• Oversee training of new employees and monitor progress
• Coordinate assignments and work hours for new hires during first 90 days
• Assist employees in resolving work-related problems and inform management
• Create and lead a culture of growth and learning
• Provide feedback on new employee progress and engagement
• Perform root-cause analyses of production deficiencies and assist with corrective actions
• Fabricate as needed
• Fill in at any station to handle staffing shortages
• Fill in at any station to meet daily workload demands
