The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at Carnegie Mellon University is a world-renowned research and education hub at the forefront of natural language processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. Established within the School of Computer Science, LTI pioneers innovative approaches to understanding, processing, and generating human language in both written and spoken forms.

This pre-doctoral internship position aims to have a student before their doctoral program perform a research project on AI agents, particularly in the field of multi-agent coordination. The intern will perform the full research process from conceptualization to experiments and paper writing.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Work together with the PI to scope a research project
  • Perform background literature review
  • Plan and complete experiments
  • Write a paper/s about the results
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Academic or professional experience in AI and/or machine learning
  • Previously written papers on code generation and/or AI agents is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization, problem-solving and reasoning skills.
  • A combination of education and meaningful experience from which comparable knowledge is proven may be considered.
