The Daily Beast is seeking a motivated writer and reporter to join our award-winning team, focusing on a new newsletter beat around prediction markets and online betting. You will deliver sharp reporting on this evolving space, and develop responsible techniques to cover politics, tech, and culture intersecting with betting platforms.

Ideal candidates bring 1–2 years of breaking news experience, a confident writer’s voice, and the ability to work quickly with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

One to two years’ experience writing breaking news at a fast pace, ideally for large-scale outlets and with a focus on business/tech topics.
A voracious news diet focused on prediction markets, online betting, financial reporting, and the key characters leasing these platforms.
A strong, confident writer’s voice.
A team player, willing and able to collaborate with editors and other reporters to ensure comprehensive coverage.
A self-starter who can conceive and execute stories with impact; able to take initiative, receive constructive feedback, and work with minimal supervision.
Comfort meeting quick deadlines, and flexibility to work evening/weekend hours where needed.
