Job summary

Solar Gaines is seeking a Pre-Construction Project Manager for our commercial solar installations in Hunt Valley, MD. The role focuses on supporting multiple projects, coordinating with subcontractors, and generating comprehensive preconstruction estimates.

Responsibilities include developing initial schedules, managing bid processes, and ensuring client requirements are accurately captured and translated into contracts. Prior solar/construction PM experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans with NEC code knowledge.
• Track record of leading projects and managing construction crews.
• Understanding of OSHA standards and safety requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to rapidly create/modify takeoffs for large projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Responsibilities

• Support multiple projects concurrently.
• Maintain and develop subcontractor resources.
• Collaborate with PMs from pricing to contracts.
• Produce initial project schedules.
• Compile and distribute preconstruction docs.
• Gather client requirements and design configurations; generate comprehensive estimates.
• Create project estimates and analyze subcontractor bids.
• Produce takeoffs for bids and preconstruction work.
• Lead and coordinate pre-bid and bid meetings.

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Pay: $100,000 to $120,000

Position Summary

We are looking for a Pre-Construction Project Manager to support our multiple commercial solar projects.

Essential Functions

• Support multiple projects at the same time
• Maintain and develop new subcontractor resources
• Collaborate with Project Managers during the transition from pricing to contracts
• Produce initial working schedule for projects
• Produce, collect, and distribute preconstruction documentation
• Work closely with clients to gather specific needs, design the configuration of the product(s), and generate an estimate containing all customer requirements
• Create project estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids
• Produce takeoffs
• Plan, lead, and coordinate pre-bid and bid meetings

Experience

• Preferred – experience in solar
• Minimum experience: 3 years or more
• Required Industry Experience: Solar / Electrical / Construction
• Prior project management experience

Required Skills

• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and specifications with in-depth knowledge of the NEC codes
• Demonstrated track record of successful project leadership with experience managing construction crews
• Understanding OSHA standards and safety requirements
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity, and professionalism
