Job summary

SOLV Energy, LLC is seeking an Entry Level/Intern Project Engineer for its San Diego, CA area hybrid role. You will support the preconstruction team, document meetings, maintain files, and assist in CPM scheduling, LNTPs, submittals, and procurement logs.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of construction experience, basic cost accounting and scheduling knowledge, and strong organization with solid English communication.

Responsibilities

• Attend and document project meetings (minutes)
• Set up and maintain electronic filing system
• Update and maintain drawings, specifications and logs
• Assist with defining and creating LNTPs
• Ensure preconstruction activities align with LNTPs, scope, budget and schedules
• Track changes impacting schedule/budget with Engineering Manager and communicate to teams
• Assist with CPM schedules and master CPM schedule
• Manage site safety plan and pre-task planning processes
• Distribute documents to project partners and maintain logs
• Review, analyze, and transmit submittals
• Prepare and maintain RFI, submittal and procurement logs
• Code Accounts Payable workflows and verify codes
• Verify labor cost quantities for estimates
• Maintain PCI log in CMiC
• Set up and maintain CMiC system
• Assist in preparing bid packages and procedures
• Complete other assigned responsibilities

Job Description Summary:

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. The EPC Preconstruction Project Engineer will support the preconstruction team, coordinate and manage project deliverables to achieve project profitability and schedule goals. This position is team oriented, fast paced and responsible for the coordination and completion of the assigned projects. This role is hybrid with regular in office presence in San Diego, CA. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

• Able to perform all essential Entry Level/Intern Project Engineer responsibilities
• Attend and document project meetings (write minutes)
• Set up and maintain electronic filing system
• Update and maintain all sets of drawings, specifications and logs
• Assist with defining and creating LNTPs
• Assist with ensuring preconstruction activities align with LNTPs,scope, budget, and schedules
• Liaison with the Engineering Manager to track changes that impact project schedule and/or budget and provide those changes to the Project Executive Support Operations and/or Contracts Teams in tracking EPC exhibits
• Assist with preparation of CPM schedules
• Assist with updating and maintaining master CPM schedule
• Evaluate and understand basic construction means and methods
• Maintain a site-specific safety plan and pre-task planning process, including audits, meeting, training, etc.
• Distribute all documents to project partners and maintain document logs
• Review, analyze, and transmit submittals
• Prepare and maintain RFI, submittal and procurement logs
• Code Accounts Payable Workflows or verify correct codes as assigned
• Verify original estimate quantities for labor cost reports
• Maintain PCI log in CMiC system
• Set up and maintain a Quality Management system
• Prepare billings and expedite payments
• Set up and maintain all aspects of the CMiC system
• Assist in preparing bid packages, soliciting, and evaluating bids
• Assist in writing project procedures
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

• 1-3 years of construction-related experience, or equivalent Construction related internship experience preferred
• Field experience a plus
• Basic understanding of construction cost accounting
• Basic estimating and scheduling skills
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
• Effective organizational skills
• Effective written and verbal English language communication skills
• Ability to use independent judgment; self-starting
• Drafting and advanced computer skills a plus
