Layton Construction is seeking a senior estimator/estimating leader to guide budgeting, pricing, and planning support for major projects in Utah. You will oversee the estimating team, coordinate with marketing and executives, and ensure competitive, accurate cost data across bids and proposals.

The role emphasizes strong communication, strategic thinking, and experience in construction cost control. Travel may be required to pursue profitable opportunities and manage procurement activities.

Formación

• BS in Construction Management or related field; equivalent combo of education and experience.
• Minimum ten years construction-related experience.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, journals, procedures, and regulations.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
• Superior communication and presentation skills.
• Must pass a drug test and background check.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsabilidades

• Lead estimating and planning support personnel and activities.
• Monitor budgeting and buy-out processes for reliable estimates.
• Communicate cost history for improved cost modeling and estimating.
• Oversee planning support processes for efficient resource use.
• Interface with marketing to ensure brand and information consistency.
• Evaluate, plan and execute new scopes of services and profit centers.
• Monitor productivity and cost control on projects.
• Attend project reviews and resolve budget issues.
• Plan and implement estimator training.
• Oversee business development activities including client relationships and proposals.
• Lead sales activities from lead qualification to RFQ/SOQ/RFP responses.
• Set goals, procedures, systems, and tools for sales/marketing tasks.
• Represent the company in the procurement process for SBUs.
• Supervise estimating team and coordinate with executives and clients.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Represent Layton Construction in industry events as approved.

Primary Duties

• Provide leadership for estimating and planning support personnel.
• Monitor project budgeting and buy-out processes to ensure reliable information is available for estimates.
• Facilitate communication of cost history to ensure on-going evaluation of pricing information for better cost modeling and estimating.
• Monitor planning support processes to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
• Interface with marketing to ensure consideration of all relevant information, issues, and brand name recognition.
• Assist in the evaluation, planning and execution of new scope of services and profit centers.
• Monitor productivity and cost control on specific projects.
• Attend project review meetings and facilitate solutions to budget problems as required.
• Plan and implement training for estimators.
• Identify and procure profitable projects by overseeing all business development activities, including customer relationships, networking, performing public relations activities, maintaining client database, and executing the client matrices.
• Oversee all sales activities, including identifying and pre-qualifying leads, working on procurement strategies, developing proposals, responding to RFQ's, SOQ's and RFP's.
• Establish goals, procedures, systems, and tools used to accomplish sales/marketing tasks.
• Commit the company in the project procurement process with respect to SBU projects.
• This position supervises Estimating activities and personnel and therefore takes on the successes and failures of the team.
• Employee will work with the Executives, Estimating and Planning Support Personnel, and clients.
• Other related duties as assigned.
• Represent Abbott Construction in the community by attending appropriate industry events as approved by the Vice President.

Qualifications

• BS in Construction Management, Marketing and/or Communication or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum ten years construction-related experience.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Superior communication and presentation skills.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
• Utilizes good judgment and remains efficient while under stress
• Capable of communicating effectively in English both verbally and in writing
• Knowledge of all aspects of the construction process
• Must have a strong work ethic, sense of urgency, organizational skills, task oriented
• Must be willing to travel if required
