Job Title: Vice President of Preconstruction, Mission Critical

Location: Remote (with travel as needed)

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Vice President of Preconstruction to lead preconstruction efforts for mission critical projects nationwide. This executive role will oversee estimating, budgeting, and design-phase planning, ensuring alignment with client goals and technical requirements. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in mission critical facilities (data centers, labs, technology infrastructure), proven leadership skills, and the ability to drive preconstruction strategy in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for all preconstruction activities in the mission critical sector.
  • Oversee conceptual and detailed cost estimating, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
  • Partner with design teams and clients to ensure alignment of scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Lead proposal development, RFP/RFQ responses, and presentations to prospective clients.
  • Build and maintain long-term client, architect, engineer, and subcontractor relationships.
  • Establish and refine preconstruction processes, tools, and best practices across teams.
  • Provide executive-level reporting to leadership on project pipeline, forecasts, and risks.
  • Mentor and develop preconstruction staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Monitor market trends, subcontractor capabilities, and material pricing to ensure competitiveness.
  • Partner with operations leadership to ensure smooth handoff from preconstruction to construction phases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 years of preconstruction/estimating experience with 7 years in mission critical projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data center, technology, or other mission critical environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Proven track record of executive-level leadership in large, complex construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP delivery, design-build, and CM at-risk project delivery methods.
  • Proficiency in estimating software, project management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote leadership role, with occasional travel for key meetings and site visits.
