Overview

The Pre-Construction Manager I will assist in the planning, coordination, and management of pre-construction activities. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals starting their careers in construction management and looking to develop their skills in a supportive and dynamic environment. The role involves working closely with senior pre-construction managers, project managers, and various stakeholders to ensure projects are set up for success from the outset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Coordination: Assist in the development of comprehensive pre-construction plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for project planning.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and contract documents to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Estimating and Budgeting: Assists in the preparation of accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Assist in developing project budgets and monitoring costs against budgeted amounts.
  • Assists in the participation of value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Bid Management: Assist in the preparation and issuance of requests for proposals (RFPs) and invitations to bid (ITBs).
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and evaluate bids.
  • Help prepare bid comparison sheets and recommend the best value options for the project.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including pre-construction plans, schedules, budgets, and bid documents.
  • Prepare and distribute reports to senior pre-construction managers and stakeholders to provide updates on project status, milestones, and issues.
  • Assist in tracking project expenses, costs, and variances against budgeted amounts.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams and stakeholders to address project issues, concerns, and changes in a timely manner.
  • Assist in facilitating regular project meetings and conference calls to ensure alignment and coordination among project teams.
  • Risk Management and Issue Resolution: Identify potential risks, issues, and challenges that may impact project delivery, and work with senior pre-construction managers to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in resolving project-related issues, conflicts, and disputes in a timely and professional manner to minimize project delays and disruptions.
  • Implement corrective actions and follow-up measures to address project issues and prevent reoccurrence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience in pre-construction, estimating, or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, techniques, and terminology.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with project management and estimating software is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
