Job summary

GH Phipps in Colorado is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction for large commercial projects. You will develop budgets, assemble bid packages, and manage trade partner relationships from concept through award.

You will mentor junior estimators, coordinate across departments, and deliver cost data, value engineering, and lifecycle costing for projects in K-12, higher education, healthcare and civic sectors.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Construction Management or Estimating.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
• 12+ years of estimating for general commercial construction.
• Experience in K-12, Higher Education, Healthcare, Advanced Technology, and Civic markets.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

• Lead client pursuits, RFPs, and interviews to cultivate new and existing business.
• Maintain long-term relationships with owners, architects, engineers and trade partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cultivate new and existing businessrelationships by leading clientpursuits,RFP's, and interviews; positively promote Company to external business partners and contacts
• Establish and maintain positive long-term relationships with all business partners including owners, architects, engineers and trade partners
• Cultivate and manage relationships with new and existing clients; Provide client with accurate estimates and value engineering
• Assume single responsibility for larger, complex projects; assume overall responsibility for the preconstruction stage of each project
• Responsible for creating detailed project budgets at conceptual, SD, DD and CD stages through all delivery models
• Identify tasks to be accomplished to satisfy contractual requirements
• Ensures estimates, schedules, constructability reviews, value engineering efforts, cost report planning and purchase planning efforts and documents meet detail, schedule and quality requirements.
• Provide overall Preconstruction effort oversight and lead a project team and project solutions
• Manage estimating process through initial advertising/prequalification and solicitation of trade partners, bid evaluation process and award
• Coordinating with multiple departments to complete Preconstruction effort at all drawing milestones and ensuring other departments have required information to perform their duties
• Interfaces with Owner, Architect/Engineers and trade partners to resolve technical matters during design or prebid and provides engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.
• Organize departmental team so that each estimator involved knows responsibilities and deadlines
• Cultivates and manages relationships with new and existing clients.
• Perform value engineering and life-cycle costing
• Develop and write all bid packages and trade partners scopes of work
• Coordinates with Project Manager in award of subcontracts and writes all subcontracts
• Engages with industry and community organizations to support business development initiatives
• Serve as SME within department for assigned market sectors
• Mentors and develops junior estimators across app phases of preconstruction
• Fosters a positive reputation in the industry by building relationships and identifies project opportunities aligned with strategic plan and goals
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION

Associates degree in Construction Management or Estimating

Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred

EXPERIENCE

12+ years of estimating for general commercial construction

Experience estimating in the markets of K-12, Higher Education, Healthcare, Advanced Technology, and Civic

SKILLS

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
• Proficient in use of estimating software, Destini or Planswift preferred
• Able to read drawings and specifications
• Strong understanding of commercial construction industry practices and standards
• Knowledge of construction costs, project budgeting, vendor selection, client proposals and owner/architect/general contractor industry expertise.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Verifiable work references demonstrating exceptional accomplishments, leadership, and communication skills
• Successful completion of post-offer background & drug screens
• All positions at GH Phipps are considered safety sensitive. Position may be required to visit a construction site at any time

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $134,000 – 144,000 annually and is dependent in experienceand title/rankof position offered.

Compensation

Our compensation package includes a competitive salary, participation in our employee stock ownership program (ESOP) on your first day of hire, and eligibility in our annual bonus program.Annual ESOP contributions and bonuses are dependent on company performance and are not guaranteed from year to year.Both ESOP and bonuses are calculated on one’s eligible compensation for the year.
