Job summary

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction experience, or adjacent fields.
• Understanding of all aspects of preconstruction.
• Ability to develop and maintain key long-term relationships (clients, subcontractors, partners, etc.)
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Conflict resolution skills and experience with successfully resolving disputes
• Ability to multitask and prioritize resources
• Superior organizational skills; detail-oriented
• Proficient knowledge of estimating software
• Experience representing company with industry and community organizations

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate would be located in or around Birmingham, AL. This position will be responsible for leading a preconstruction department (3 estimators) and will report directly to the president.

Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

• Knowledgeable about construction approach of building commercial, healthcare, industrial or multifamily projects
• Identify and compute labor, material, and time costs by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications and other bid documents
• Experience in working in a team of estimators
• Work with operations teams on general requirements, including fees, financials, and construction schedules
• Partner with associated division/market to assist in managing and forecasting pursuit costs
• Drive projects forward and understand efforts needed in order to achieve desired results
• Strategically apply preconstruction resources for greatest return on investment
• Proficiently utilize estimating software tools
• Collaborate with clients to understand and extract their true needs
• Managing the preconstruction department
