Job summary

Scott Humphrey Corporation in Asheville, NC is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead the estimating and PreCon efforts for commercial and industrial projects ranging from 10M to 80M with hard deadlines. This role requires reading drawings, coordinating with engineers, and developing robust unit prices.

You will easily coordinate with subcontractors, prepare RFIs, and drive project budgets (GMP) while maintaining strong client/vendor relationships. On-site role with local travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years estimating and PreCon experience.
• Experience with Hard Bid Municipal Commercial Projects.
• Ability to understand construction terminology.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; MS Office and MC2 knowledge.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to commute to job site.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating group during design phase cost estimates.
• Read drawings, geotech reports and specifications.
• Identify utility conflicts and bypass areas.
• Perform quantity take-offs for pipe, appurtenances, concrete and sitework.
• Formulate unit prices as needed.
• Solicit subcontractor/supplier participation via phone/email.
• Write RFIs to engineers.
• Proficient in scope analysis and estimating deficiencies.
• Develop project RFQ and RFP documents.
• Establish project database for proposals.
• Create construction schedule for estimates in P6.
• Coordinate and establish project budget (GMP).
• Manage 10M–80M projects with hard deadlines and multi-tasking.
• Develop long-term relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
• Participate in pre- and post-construction reviews.

Primary Responsibilities

• Estimating and lead estimating group on design phase cost estimate
• Ability to read drawings, geo-tech reports and specifications
• Identify Utility conflicts and Bypass areas
