Job summary

AECOM Hunt in Dallas, TX is seeking a Preconstruction Intern to gain hands-on experience in engineering, design, construction management and infrastructure projects. The internship begins Summer 2027 and offers exposure to cutting‑edge technology and collaboration with experienced professionals in a global firm.

Interns will work on cost estimating, schedule development, logistics planning, and broad tasks assigned by senior staff to build a well‑rounded knowledge base in construction management.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering or related field.
• Must have completed at least 1 year of study; recent grads may apply for advanced degree track.
• Interest in construction management and preconstruction activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of assignments to develop professional knowledge using standard techniques.
• Assist with development of a project prior to on-site construction including cost estimating.
• Assist in schedule development by reviewing project documentation for scope.
• Support logistics planning to optimize phasing, access and laydown areas.

Job Description

AECOM Hunt is seeking a Preconstruction Internto be based in Dallas, TX.

This position is expected to begin in Summer 2027.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Performs a variety of assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks.
• Assist with development of a project prior to on-site construction activities
  • Cost Estimating – determine quantities utilizing a traditional 2D takeoff tool such as On-Screen Takeoff or 3D model quantities utilizing a program such as Assemble.
  • Schedule Development – review project documentation to determine scope involved to assist in creating a preliminary project schedule.
  • Logistics Planning – study characteristics of the project site to determine best approach to phasing, access, and laydown areas.
• Follows instructions to accomplish tasks assigned by senior staff.
• Meets required schedules while producing quality work.
• Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering and/or similar discipline and must have completed at least 1 year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
