Job summary

Southland Industries in California seeks a senior leader to drive growth in HVAC & Plumbing scopes by managing General Contractor relationships and leading cross-functional teams through the sales lifecycle. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • 10+ years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, equipment, systems and materials for all divisions of work.

  • Understanding permitting and regulatory processes.
  • Excellent customer service, verbal, written & presentation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and project management skills.
  • Ability to frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary lead with select General Contractors and grow client relationships while deepening penetration in existing design-build relationships.
  • Support business development through maintenance of customer relationships and pursuit supports.
  • Offer technical expertise during the sales timeline and lead the team to close deals with Pursuits.
  • Actively participate in design meetings and collaborate on strategic initiatives with management.

Job description

Position Summary

This role is responsible for serving as the primary lead with General Contractors. In addition, this role will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance, client development, and people development necessary to achieve the goals established for the growth of our HVAC & Plumbing scopes of work on targeted pursuits. This role will have a joint responsibility with the Director to lay out the business plan to grow the business within the respective area of responsibility.

Position Details

  • Serves as primary lead with select General Contractors (GCs). Drives growth through development of client relationships as well as deeper penetration into the existing customer base that exists through our design-build relationships. Develops and maintains General Contractor relationships.
  • Supports business development in the maintenance of customer relationships and in support of specific project pursuits.
  • Offers technical expertise and advice during the entire sales timeline from lead, to prospect to pursuit. Partners with the Business Development team on pursuits as they become qualified pursuits and then leads the team to close the deal.
  • Actively participates in design meetings during development phase. Works with management to develop strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Four Year Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management
  • 10+ Year’s Experience in the construction industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of construction methods, equipment, systems and materials for all divisions of work and relationship to the design and construction phases of a project.
  • Strong understanding of local and national market conditions.
  • Understands the permitting and regulatory processes.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written & presentation skills

  • Excellent project management skills.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For California, this ranges from $170,000.00-$220,000.00 yearly plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
