Job summary

Ironmark Building Co. is seeking an Estimating Intern to support the Preconstruction team in developing estimates, evaluating project documents, and soliciting subcontractor pricing for competitive bids.

This role offers hands-on experience in early project evaluation and bid preparation while providing exposure to project management and field operations as opportunities arise. You will assist with bid setup, quantity takeoffs, subcontractor solicitation, and price review, gaining insight into

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a 4-year Construction Program.
• Basic knowledge of all aspects of construction and their impact on project activities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong interpersonal skills are a must as you will interact with multiple Estimators.
• Must be a self-starter with a proactive approach in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive attitude and strong desire to learn.
• Ability to present information verbally and in writing.
• Ability to read, write, spell, speak, and understand English for reports and correspondence and to perform math including algebra and geometry.
• Must have access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project setup and organization of bid documents.
• Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Perform quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and OST.
• Assist with subcontractor and vendor solicitation.
• Track subcontractor bid coverage and follow up with bidders.
• Review and compare subcontractor/vendor proposals and pricing.
• Assist with bid leveling and identification of scope gaps.
• Support estimate assembly, review, and bid strategy.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and estimate reviews as applicable.
• Assist with additional estimating and preconstruction activities based on project needs.
