We are currently seeking an Preconstruction Engineer in Atlanta, Ga. to join our family.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  1. Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction
  2. Sets up budgets
  3. Prepares estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work; prices work items
  4. Reviews design options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
  5. Participates in presentations to clients (if required)
  6. Reviews all pricing with the Preconstruction Manager
  7. Uses historical unit price and productivity data
  8. Participates in project hand-off meetings; attends meetings with suppliers and subs as needed
  9. Visits project sites to observe construction methods
  10. Reviews proposal specifications, drawings and attends pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
  11. Reviews and incorporates historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man hour figures
  12. Determines critical path schedule and sequence of work
  13. Investigates site before bid, identifying waste area, borrow area and dump sites
  14. Updates skills for software tools and technology utilized
  15. Reviews terms and conditions of subcontractor and vendor quotes; serves as liaison with subcontractors and vendors during the bidding process
  16. Provides technical support to personnel preparing estimates for assigned bids
  17. Must be willing to travel
  18. Investigates value engineering options
  19. Maintains files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers
  20. Ensures all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures
  21. Communicate with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing (e.g. customers, suppliers, employees). Maintain relationships to ensure needs are met and problems/conflicts are resolved.
  22. Communicates and reinforces the Company vision, mission and values

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University and 0-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
