About The Position

As a Preconstruction Director, you will qualify, cultivate, generate, and foster Data Center opportunities. You will oversee all preconstruction deliverables including estimates, design assistance, engineering, scope development, constructability, scheduling, execution strategy, JV creation, UBE plan, subcontractor solicitation, contract negotiations, procurement, and initial billing for large Data Center projects. You will ensure exemplary customer communication and project results.

Day in the life

• Supervises preconstruction managers responsible for project quality and deliverables.
• Determines project pursuits based on capacity, opportunity, and strategic growth.
• Ensures design and preconstruction alignment for cost and quality.
• Supports planning, reviews, and coordination of deliverables for efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Develops budgets, provides value analysis, and manages client and subcontractor relationships.
• Builds strategic relationships, supports business development, and maintains confidentiality.
• Creates and manages budgets and backlog.
• Provides leadership, mentoring, and performance feedback to staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years electrical construction experience, including estimating, code requirements, and preconstruction, with 5+ years managing people.
• Experience in project management, trade knowledge, and use of estimating software like Accubid.
• Knowledge of building construction, electrical systems, and regional trade practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to coach, motivate, and develop teams, and work collaboratively.

Travel

• Approximately 50% travel expected and required.
