Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. in Sanford, FL is seeking a Preconstruction Specialist to support the daily operations of the Preconstruction team, coordinating with estimators, subcontractors, and internal departments. The role focuses on bidding, documentation, and outreach to ensure timely project bids.

You will work in our Sanford corporate office, handling bid prep, plan coordination, and data management, while maintaining accuracy and adhering to established processes.

Qualifications

• Ability to build effective relationships with subcontractors and internal teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and learning bidding software.
• Experience supporting construction, estimating, or preconstruction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support bid preparation with documents, schedules, addenda, and submissions.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers on plans, specs, bid requirements, and project information.
• Support iSqFt project setup, plan orders, outreach, and database maintenance.
• Assist with MWBE Good Faith Efforts outreach and documentation.
• Assist with bond and insurance requests and follow up on requirements.
• Support QA/QC activities for GMP bid packages and preconstruction deliverables.
• Provide bid-day logistics coordination with internal teams.
• Maintain project, subcontractor, and bidding data in systems.
• Communicate with internal/external contacts to resolve items and meet deadlines.
• Provide general administrative support to the Preconstruction team.
