Job summary

Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery in Cincinnati, OH, seeks a Scientist, Preclinical Research, Robotics & Digital Solutions to advance preclinical evidence for robotic surgery devices. You will design and execute animal studies, coordinate labs, and ensure compliance with GLP and regulatory standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will contribute to studies supporting safer, more effective MedTech innovations, with travel up to 15% for domestic/international activities.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 3 years of related scientific / technical experience within preclinical research.
• Experience in preclinical science and processes with understanding of medical device development and regulations.
• Track record of contributing to preclinical programs on time and within budget.
• Experience in GLP environment and executing preclinical studies.
• Understanding of good documentation practices.
• Familiarity with animal welfare regulations and IACUC.

Responsibilities

• Supports product evaluations involving animate, inanimate, and cadaveric models.
• Performs research supporting development of products in minimally invasive robotic surgery.
• Assist or conduct investigations for medical device development and preclinical evidence generation.
• Coordinate and ensure accurate documentation of laboratory activities.
• Conduct lab activities in compliance with USDA, AAALAC, and J&J Animal use policies.
• Ensure compliance with 21 CFR Part 58 – Good Laboratory Practices.
• Contribute to study design to meet premarket and postmarket needs.
• Design, plan and execute preclinical animal studies for safety and performance.
• Act as study coordinator or Study Director on less complex projects.
• Assess and manage risks in preclinical evaluation.
• Interpret and disseminate evidence through reports, abstracts, manuscripts.
• Collaborate with teams and partners; travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.
