Job summary

Underground Systems is seeking a locator to identify the paths of cables, pipes, and conduits using advanced detection tools and mapping techniques. You will read utility maps, interpret prints, and apply APWA color codes to guide excavation crews, while maintaining equipment and a clean work van.

The role emphasizes reliability, detail orientation, and technical savvy, with 1–3 years of related experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of utility locating or related field experience.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Experience operating diverse electrical, magnetic, and locating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Pinpoint locations of water, sewer, gas, cable, and electric lines using detection tools.
• Read and interpret utility maps and prints to identify sizes and types.
• Apply APWA Uniform Color Code to guide excavation teams.
• Perform preventative maintenance on locating equipment and keep service van ready.
• Follow PPE requirements and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
