Job summary

Living Spaces in La Mirada, CA is seeking a Cutter to hand cut upholstery pieces for our designed furniture and prepare fabrics for clean cuts. The role focuses on spreading fabric layers, avoiding damage, and ensuring efficient movement and storage of materials.

The candidate will measure and cut fabric or leather using patterns, work with leather products, and help meet production timeframes while adhering to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of fabric cutting experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience using a cutting wheel and a utility knife.
• Knowledge of fabric codes (single borders, one ways, grain lines, etc.).
• Working knowledge of power tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fabrics for cutting by spreading and smoothing in flat layers, checking for defects.
• Measure and cut fabric or leather using patterns, stencils or eyeing for precise sizes.
• Cut fabric to fit furniture framework using power and hand tools.
• Arrange and mark fabric patterns accurately to maximize material yield.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean, orderly workspace.
• Collaborate with the manager to solve production bottle-necks and meet timeframes.
