Job summary

PHD, Inc. Huntington Facility is seeking a skilled Toolroom Technician to design, build, and maintain fixtures, jigs, and tools for manufacturing. You will repair and prevent tooling downtime while applying GD&T and precision methods.

The role requires experience with manual and CNC tools, blueprints, and CAD, plus strong problem-solving and communication skills. On-site role with opportunities for process improvement.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years of experience as a tool maker in a manufacturing environment.
• Certification or Associate Degree from an accredited technical school is preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints and applying GD&T principles.
• Experienced in operating manual machine tools.
• Knowledge of shop mathematics, mechanics, and metal properties.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills and experience with CAD software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain fixtures, jigs and tools using lathes, mills and grinders.
• Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on tooling and equipment.
• Inspect tools and fixtures to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Procure tooling supplies and organize inventory.
• Provide tooling support to manufacturing and engineering.
• Train production personnel on setups and processes.
• Participate in root cause analysis to improve tool performance.
• Document procedures and use CAD for designs.
• Keep toolroom clean and organized.
