Job summary

Ilocatum in Barkhamsted, CT seeks an experienced Manual Toolroom Machinist and Toolmaker to support production through machining, assembly, and inspection of fixtures, workholding devices, tooling, and gages. You will set up and operate jig borers, lathes, milling machines, and grinders, read drawings, select tooling and speeds, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience as a manual machinist or toolmaker.
• Ability to read drawings and use precision inspection tools.
• Experience producing tooling, fixtures, and gages to close tolerances.
• Apprenticeship or technical training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and assemble precision fixtures, workholding devices, tooling, and gages.
• Set up and operate manual jig borers, lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
• Inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges.
• Troubleshoot and modify tooling to address wear or changes.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams.
• Maintain toolroom equipment and keep areas organized.
