Smith Brothers Tool Company seeks an experienced jig and fixture builder to translate customer prints into precise tooling. You will establish reference points, interpret GD&T, and fabricate using mills, lathes, and grinders in a hands-on environment.

The role emphasizes strong measurement skills, ability to read 3D CAD models, and clear communication. This is a full-time on-site position in Shelby Charter Township, MI, with competitive benefits and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building precision jigs and fixtures.
• Fluent blueprint interpretation, including GD&T and reading 3D CAD models.
• Proficiencies in precision measurement and hand metrology tools.
• Manual machining background (mills, lathes, grinders) preferred.

Responsabilités

• Execute jig and fixture builds from customer prints, specifications, and quality requirements.

Precision Tooling Jig & Fixture FabricatorPicture your day: you open a new customer print, study the specs and quality notes, then translate that intent into a precise build. You lay out reference points and tooling holes with straightedges and metrology tools, validate dimensions, and bring the design to life. When a legacy tool comes back for rework, you diagnose, repair, and return it to service—often crafting quick fabrication sketches to communicate an approach.
