Job summary

Smith Brothers Tool Company is seeking a skilled jig and fixture builder to own the creation of precision jigs, fixtures, and tooling from kickoff to final inspection. You will translate blueprints with GD&T, set reference points, and operate lathes, Bridgeport mills, and grinders to machine, fit, and inspect components, delivering robust tools on spec and on time.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of precision jig and fixture building experience.
• Fluent in blueprint reading and practical GD&T.
• Proficient with 3D CAD interpretation and precision hand metrology.
• Manual machining experience with mills, lathes, and grinders is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Translate blueprints, GD&T, and 3D CAD into actionable build plans; set reference points and locate tooling holes with confidence.
• Operate manual lathes, Bridgeport mills, and grinders to machine, fit, and finish components.
• Draft quick fabrication sketches, rework and repair existing tooling, and verify performance through precise measurement.
• Collaborate with engineers and fellow builders to solve fit/assembly issues; keep your area organized and safe.
