Job summary

VTG in San Diego, CA is seeking a Tool Room Attendant to support machining operations at NAS North Island. The role requires operating multiple machine tools to produce and maintain jigs, fixtures, tools, gauges, and dies with careful setup and alignment.

You will use precision instruments, select feeds and speeds, dress tools as needed, and work outdoors or in varying conditions. A high school diploma and prior tool-room experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school completion preferred.
• Experience in tool and parts distribution of similar scope and size preferred.
• Must perform physical activities and endure outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate one or more types of machine tools to machine metal for jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, gauges, or dies.
• Plan and perform difficult machining operations with complex setups and high accuracy.
• Set up machine tools, install cutting tools and adjust guides, stops and tables for stock size.
• Select feeds, speeds, tooling, and operation sequences from drawings/blueprints; use precision measuring instruments.
