Job summary

BAC is seeking a Precision Tool & Die Reliability Technician in Dayton, TN. You will join the Maintenance & Reliability team, performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections on tooling and related systems.

The role requires reading blueprints, working with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components, and adhering to safety procedures. You will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and collaborate with senior technicians to resolve issues, document results, and support lean

Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams for diagnostics.
  • Proficient with electrical troubleshooting using a DMM.
  • Familiarity with machine components and power transmission.
  • Strong documentation and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance rounds and close out work orders.
  • Repair pumps, compressors, and piping systems; troubleshoot basic electrical issues.
  • Contain downtime by executing quality repairs and documenting outcomes.
  • Build jigs, templates, and subassemblies from blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production to align priorities and tasks.
  • Follow OEM manuals for diagnostics and repairs and maintain accurate records.

Around here, success is simple: doing the right thing in the right way.What youll handle day-to-dayOwn safety for yourself and your teammates; use the right PPE and follow every rule without exception.Execute PMs, close out work orders, and perform quality repairs that minimize risk and downtime.Hit daily milestones on assigned projects or tickets as production volume shifts.Restock parts, tools, and consumables to keep work flowing.Build jigs, assists, templates, and unit subassemblies to spec using blueprints and shop drawings.Grow expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission systems.Conduct machine walk-throughs, review discrepancies, and communicate equipment status across shifts.Complete bench work: rebuilds, cleaning, operational checks, and upgrades.Service pumps, compressors, and piping systems; troubleshoot basic electrical using schematics and a DMM.Partner with production and maintenance teams; align priorities with the Shift Manager.Support seasonal maintenance and facility needs during non-standard hours when required.Share knowledge with peers as your skills advance; step in to train on foundational tasks.Pitch in across the plant when needed to ensure team success.Reporting structureYou will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and may receive daily direction from a senior technician assigned by the Supervisor.Capabilities were looking for112years in industrial equipment maintenance.Clear written and verbal communicationfrom accurate repair notes to concise emails and professional conversations with coworkers and BAC customers.Solid math: add/subtract/multiply/divide, fractions, and fraction-to-decimal conversions.General facility repair skills (painting, drywall, plumbing).Electrical troubleshooting fundamentals; read schematics/wiring diagrams; use a digital multimeter.Comfort with mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic systems and power transmission components.Blueprint and reference drawing literacy.Adaptability in a fast-changing production environment.Working knowledge of LEAN (5S, Kanban, one-piece flow, continuous improvement basics).Ability to follow OEM manuals for diagnostics and repairs.Hands-on with welding, milling, and lathe operations.Safe operation of nail guns, panel and miter saws, and other small power tools.Tape measure proficiency and fractional calculations.Accurate completion of In-Process Inspections and required paperwork.Safe use of pallet jacks, lift trucks, jib and gantry cranes; ability to operate a man lift.Thorough knowledge of task-related safety requirements.Basic computer skills; find instructions and forms on the LAN or other databases.Proficiencies that set you up for successPLC Programming ExperienceMaintenance and Repair SkillsTool/Die/Mold Repair SkillsTool/Die/Mold Setup ExperienceWORKING CONDITIONSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas.Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Some weekend overtime is to be expected.
