Job summary

Generac, located in Whitewater, WI, is seeking a full-time Tool and Die Maker to build, repair, and maintain tooling used in manufacturing. You will read blueprints and GD&T, set up machine tools, and ensure tooling meets quality standards on the shop floor.

You will collaborate with engineering and production teams to drive tooling improvements, perform preventive maintenance, and uphold safety protocols in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Strong machining and fabrication skills with mills, lathes, grinders, and CNC equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T with solid measurement and inspection skills.
• Background in tool and die construction, maintenance, and repair for high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Understanding of metals, heat treatment, and material properties relevant to tooling and dies.
• Ability to diagnose tooling issues, propose solutions, and collaborate with engineering and production teams.
• Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement (Lean/5S).
• Relevant technical training or apprenticeship in tool & die making; prior energy/manufacturing experience beneficial.
• Effective communication and ability to work independently or in a diverse, inclusive team.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, and maintain tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds used in manufacturing.
• Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to guide machining and assembly.
• Set up and operate machine tools; perform precision machining and fitting.
• Inspect finished tools/dies for accuracy; perform preventive maintenance.
• Collaborate with engineering and production on design improvements; ensure safety and quality standards.
